5 with a very small bezel on the side of a 9.7-inch display. The alleged iPad 5 photo is not the first front panel of the new iPad that we have seen. The new leak appears to match up with the earlier photo which showed a front view of the same part in white.
This latest photo shows what may be the iPad 5 front touch panel with narrow bezels on the sides and a new connection setup to fit the smaller design.
Horwitz also speculated that Apple could go with an IGZO display to achieve what he said is a much thinner design compared to previous generations:
"Beyond that, it's noticeably thinner, as well, which is to say the the fifth-generation iPad will be smaller in every dimension than its predecessors. As it will have the same chamfered edges and curves, calling it a "stretched iPad mini" is very close to entirely accurate... The changes are so considerable that a new screen technology, such as IGZO, seems like a given. Going Retina for the third-generation iPad forced Apple to make that tablet a little thicker than the iPad 2, in part to seriously beef up the battery."
The report also said that Apple is now targeting an October release for the iPad 5, "give or take a couple of weeks," after originally planning for a March launch.
The iPad 5 is rumoured to have no bezels, and the whole form factor has been made sleeker. Horowitz believes this design indicates that Apple will be calling on Sharp's IGZO screen technology. Sharp, however, according to Horowitz, has been struggling, and its ability to deliver components on time will play a key role in the release of the next iPad.
However, the Cupertino-based company offers no official comment on the aforementioned rumours
